Kevin Magnussen has been married to his wife, Louise Gjørup, since 2019.
The Formula One driver was born in the Danish city of Roskilde in 1992 and made his F1 debut for McLaren in 2014. He began karting as a child before moving to Formula Ford in 2008 and gradually making his way up.
However, in 2015, Magnussen was released from McLaren, but there was a silver lining when he met the woman he’d go on to marry. After dating for three years, he proposed to Gjørup, and they wed on Aug. 10, 2019. Throughout their marriage, the couple have welcomed two daughters together.
Though he’s often busy racing, he’s found a support system in his wife, who frequently posts about his races on Instagram. PerSports Illustrated, Magnussen has previously spoken about his gratitude for Gjørup.
“I’m very lucky to have a wife who is super flexible and ready to go all out to make things work when I’m away,” he said. “It puts things into perspective, and you find out what is important in life.”

In an interview with the Danish newspaperB.T., Magnussen explained that Gjørup came into his life in 2015, shortly after he left McLaren.
“It dawned on me that life becomes more beautiful when you can look beyond motorsport,” he told the outlet in Danish in December 2018.
According toF1i.com, Magnussen proposed to Gjørup following the Mexican Grand Prix. “Yes, it is true that we will be married in the summer," he said. “It’s strange to me to share my privacy with people I do not know. So I do not want to go into too much detail and I hope people respect that."
Gjørup married Magnussen on Aug. 10, 2019, in a private ceremony in Nyborg, Denmark, theGrand Prixwebsite reported.
A few weeks after their nuptials, Gjørup posted about the special day onher Instagram. “One month with the most important, loving, caring and absolutely perfect husband! Love you✨ ,” she captioned a wedding photo from the ceremony.
She has two daughters with Magnussen

In the fall of 2020, Magnussen shared that he and Gjørup were expecting their first child, perB.T.
“Now I haven’t tried being a father before, but I think it will be a full-time project,” he told the outlet in Danish. “At least that’s what I’ve heard from others.”
A few months later, he revealedon InstagramGjørup gave birth to a daughter named Laura on Jan. 11, 2021. According to the new dad, she was born seven weeks early and would remain in the hospital until she was “strong and healthy” to go home.
“So, on Monday I met the love of my life when Louise and I welcomed our little girl into the world,” he wrote alongside a photo of him holding his child. “What an amazing feeling it is to become a parent.”

Gjørup often shares family and couple photos on her Instagram account, including in support of her husband.
In honor of Father’s Day in 2022, she posted a photo ofMagnussen in his racewear holding Laura. Later that same year, Gjørup uploadeda video of Magnussenwith the caption, “We are so proud of you! Love you."

Magnussen spent a year away from Formula One, but just before the first race of 2022, Haas principal Guenther Steiner asked him to come back. The F1 driver told the German magazineSport Bildthat he agreed immediately and then called Gjørup to ask for her permission.
Speaking on the order the events unfolded, he said it was “probably” the wrong sequence, though he worked on the delivery.
Magnussen added, “I told her gently. She knew that this was a unique opportunity. I actually already had written Formula 1 off.”
She and Magnussen have a dog
The couple got their dog in 2016, with Gjørup sharing the news via anInstagram pictureof a puppy playing in the grass. “When two become three," she wrote.
Over the years, she has posted glimpses of the four-legged family member online. In 2017, Gjørup posted a photo of their dog licking Magnussenon Instagram, writing, “Flying back to my little family.” The same year, she shared aselfie of herselfin the car with the Staffordshire bull terrier.
