At PEOPLE’s 2024SAG AwardsRed Carpet Pre-Showon Saturday, Cravalho, 23, said that since starring in the movie-musical, fans have been dreaming of a romance between her and costarReneé Rapp.
When asked about fan reactions to the film, theMoanastar — who says she is “very active on socials” — told PEOPLE, “What I was not expecting was gay Twitter to come for me once again — I have been shipped with Reneé Rapp more times than I can count!”
“I’m not mad about it, but I’m just saying, that was something that was new and surprising,” she added.

TheCrushstar also said she hoped she and herMean Girlscostars would do the original film, which starredLizzy Caplanas Janis andRachel McAdamsas Regina, justice.
“I was really hoping that we would pay homage to our original film,” Cravalho told PEOPLE, noting that the new movie was “an amalgamation of musical and OG ’04 film.”
“I think we made our fans proud,” she added.

Earlier this month on theLas Culturistaspodcast, Fey, 53, told hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang that “Little Broadway c—s on TikTok” were “complaining about two lines of ‘Revenge Party’ when I bring you f—ing Reneé Rapp, I bring you Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey… This is why we can’t have nice things.”
