Kevin Turen, best known as the producer ofEuphoriaandThe Idol, has died at the age of 44.
“Kevin was so incredibly special, this world is going to be less without him," his father Edward said in a Sunday night statement confirming his death, perDeadline.A cause of death is yet to be revealed.
Turen’s close friend Jay Penske meanwhile said, “Despite his many achievements in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends,” in statement perThe Hollywood Reporter.
Penske — who is also CEO of the Penske Media Corporation — continued, “He was so proud of his children. He and his wife, Evelina, were resolved that their children grow up with great values and ensured they make a difference in the broader world.”
“Our collective heart breaks for them,” the statement concluded, “and we all feel such a profound sense of loss. We will miss Kevin so much, and this town lost one of its brightest rising stars today.”

Cassian Elwes — producer ofDallas Buyers Club—paid tribute to Turen on X,formerly known as Twitter. “A good friend and true indie film maker died tonight too young. I’m so sad. Hold your love[d] ones close. Life is precious and fleeting,” he wrote.
His death comes three months after thepassingofEuphoriaactorAngus Cloud. Cloud was just 35 when he died at his family’s home in Oakland, California on Jul. 31due to an accidental drug overdose.
A spokesperson for PMC did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
