Kellyanne Conwaymay work in the White House, but her husband has no problem criticizing her boss.

On Friday, George T. Conway III, a conservative lawyer, took aim at PresidentDonald Trumpfor his latest social media rant.

Trump criticized aBuzzFeed reportthat claimed authorities had proof Trump directed his former personal attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress — which would qualify as an obstruction of justice and an impeachable offense, if true.

“Fake News is truly the enemy of the people!” Trump, 72,tweetedon Friday, adding that it was a “very sad day for journalism, but a great day for our Country!”

In response, George, who has spoken out against Trump numerous times in the past and evenformed a coalitionof conservative lawyers against the president, cast doubt on Trump’s credibility.

“In light of the fact thatyou are a pathological liar, you should not be heard to complain about inaccurate media reports,” wrote George, 55.

PEOPLE has contacted the White House for comment.

In a very rare statement issued on Friday, Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating the alleged conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russian officials, alsochallenged the story’s accuracy.

In response, BuzzFeed said in its ownstatement, “We are continuing to report and determine what the special counsel is disputing. We remain confident in the accuracy of our report.”

On Saturday, BuzzFeed said in a new statement provided to PEOPLE, “As we’ve re-confirmed our reporting, we’ve seen no indication that any specific aspect of our story is inaccurate. We remain confident in what we’ve reported, and will share more as we are able.”

Trump’s relationship with Russia has been a central controversy dating back to his campaign and he and other administration officials initially fiercely denied any contact or business dealings, which later investigation proved to be untrue.

The president continues to deny any conspiracy with Russia, which the U.S. intelligence community has said intervened in the 2016 presidential election to boost his chances of winning.

Trump’s eldest son Eric has spoken out against George in the past, tweeting in December that his vocal disapproval isa sign of “disrespect” to his wife, a senior adviser to the president.

“Of all the ugliness in politics, the utter disrespect George Conway shows toward his wife, her career, place of work, and everything she has fought SO hard to achieve, might top them all,” Eric, 35,tweeted. “@KellyannePolls is great person and frankly his actions are horrible.”

Seemingly unbothered, George went on to parody Eric’s response, altering the message to be about the president.

“Of all the ugliness in politics, the utter disrespect the Trumps show toward the rule of law, the presidency and its place of work, and everything this nation has fought SO hard to achieve might top them all. Donald Trump is terrible person and frankly his actions are horrible.”
