Kelly Clarksonstirred up a scare on theHalloweenepisode of self-titled talk show Tuesday.

While other daytime shows were embracingbeloved entertainment charactersandpop culture figures, the Grammy and Emmy winner chose to go dark, dressing as a blood-sucking vampire.

PEOPLE was given a sneak peek at her look. For the costume, she wore a form-fitting long-sleeve black dress with a matching choker. Her face was painted to look ghostly pale and drops of painted blood dripped from her smokey eyes.

The mother of two wore her hair down and crimped. Elongated faux fangs came down from her teeth, to complete the look.

“I love Halloween so much,” Clarkson said at the top of the show, after singing a cover ofOlivia Rodrigo’s hit son, “Vampire.”

“We are all different versions of vampires,” she added. “I am Rock and Roll Vampire. That’s what I’m claiming, ‘cause we just went with it!”

Jason Halbert, from her house band My Band Y’all, dressed as Nosferatu, the “OG” vampire. The rest of the band all created equally unique characters and looks for themselves, with the help of the show’s wardrobe supervisor Earl J. Nicholson and his team.

“We should all go out after this, just to freak people out,” Clarkson joked.

The Kelly Clarkson Show’s set was also dressed up for the occasion, with various Halloween decor scattered about. New, darker colors with pops of oranges highlighted the space.

GuestKyle Richardsshowed up in costume too, theReal Housewives of Beverly Hillsstar transforming into a black cat in a leather-like bodysuit.

This is Clarkson’s fifth Halloween episode of her talk show and first sincemoving the popular daytime series from Los Angeles and across the country to New York City. Last season, she went with another spooky, Stevie Nicks-inspired look, but the first three seasons were all about more light-hearted fun: a Ghostbuster (season 3), Marilyn Monroe (season 2) and Winifred Sanderson fromHocus Pocus(season 1).

Meanwhile, Clarkson will next be celebratingChristmasin a big way next month, as the host of NBC’sChristmas in Rockefeller Centerholiday special and tree lighting ceremony. .

“I’m so excited to consider this city and Rockefeller Center my new home, and I can’t imagine a better way to kick off Christmas this year than to be a part of this beautiful New York tradition with the lighting of the tree!” she said in a statement last week.

TheAmerican Idolchamp — who has released two holiday albums, 2021’sWhen Christmas Comes Around …and 2013’sWrapped in Red— will take the stage at Rockefeller Center in New York City to perform a set full of festive songs. Her performance at the nine-decade-spanning tradition marks 20 years since she first appeared on the holiday special.

“I love Christmas so much,” she said on her talk show. “It’s so magical. My whole family’s going to be here. We are very excited about Christmas in New York.”
