In what is probably our favorite photo of anything ever , VP Pence was snapped at NASA ’s Kennedy Space Center touching a piece of computer hardware that he was n’t suppose to be affecting .
Pence , standing in front of a piece of “ Critical Space Flight Hardware ” that quite distinctly stated “ Do Not impact ” , stretch along out his remaining paw and , yes , touched it . The gloriously weird moment was captured by lensman Red Huber .
We do n’t yet know what this part of ironware is . And , truth be tell apart , we also do n’t know if someone said he was allowed to do it . We ’ve involve NASA to clear up both points . However , this look-alike is really just a cracking , swell metaphor for everything . And the Internetwent wildwith it .
Pence was visit NASA as head of the newly resurrectedNational Space Council , which will kind of like support NASA or something – it ’s not super clear . It ’s also not 100 percent clear why Pence needed to confab KSC in the first post , away from interruption a few rule , but he did give a wishy - washy manner of speaking about the futurity of NASA .
“ Our Carry Nation will return to the moon , and we will put American boots on the face of Mars , ” hesaid , without give any real policy on how they ’d do this . We ’re also still waiting for the Trump administration to announce who will run NASA as Administrator , a position reverse by Charlie Bolden back in January .
Pence made his speech ring by various hardware being developed by NASA and individual company to research space . This includes the Space Launch System ( SLS ) rocket and the Orion ballistic capsule .
“ The American spirit is as limitless as space itself , ” Pence said in his cornet - rivalling parole salad .
“ And so we will bestow that spirit fully to bear on the trial that lie ahead . If we can dream it , we can do it . And under President Trump , we will achieve more in space than we ever cogitate possible . ” No , we have no melodic theme what he ’s talk about either .
In the Bolden day , NASA ’s overall finish was the often lambasted “ Journey to Mars ” , aiming to get mankind there by the 2030s . We do n’t yet have it off what Trump ’s program will be , but it ’d be good to find out soon , eh ? In the meantime , remember to register sign .
