In Dragon of Tarkir , Sarkhan Vol has go back in clock time , rescued Ugin the Spirit Dragon , and create a new timeline where dragon keep in line the airplane instead of the khans . That means we get a thaumaturgy set with more firedrake than we ’ve ever seen before .

By saving Ugin in the past ( by putting him into suspend life ) , Sarkhan created a timeline in which the flying dragon - spewing storms of the past never stopped . In this new time to come , the caravan inn lost their king and the three - color clans dismiss . In their place are two - color clans ruled by fabled dragon ( firedrake we saw in their untested forms in the last set , Fate Reforged ) .
This plays out as a set just mob with flying lizard . There ’s a cycle ofmythic rare dragons(the kin leaders ) , multiple cycle ofrare flying lizard , and even a bunch ofuncommon firedrake . conscription or seal event with this set will have a ton of dragons in play . And the sheer number of dragons available means some of them are bound to ferment up in constructed decks too . For EDH / Commander player , there are five new legends to build around , plus tartar for yourKaaliadeck ( or maybe that evil Changeling pack of cards ) . Look , there are a lot of freakin ’ dragons , okay ?
Among the more interesting cards in Dragons of Tarkir is a new command cycle , add-in that allow you pick out from a number of different impression each time you cast it . The last statement Hz turn out to be a moderately self-aggrandising good deal — Cryptic Commandwill rig you back over $ 50 today . I think all of the new control are reasonably first-class , but I especially likeSilumgar ’s CommandandKolaghan ’s Command .
Not all of the old khan are run . Sidisi may no longer go the Sultai clan , but now she ’s anUndead Vizierwith the ability toDemonic Tutorif you have a creature to give ( she can sacrifice herself , but it ’s obviously a batch better if you ’ve got some zombie tokens in turn ) . Zombie Sidisi is n’t a Brobdingnagian surprisal , but Planeswalker Narset might be . In this timeline , Narset found her spark and becameNarset Transcendent , already the most search after scorecard of the lot .
