I like the basic idea of Awesome being mistaken for Chuck – As Casey put it , “ One of them look like a undercover agent , and the other one looks like Chuck ” – but , pretty much as soon as they abandoned that idea ( which was reasonably former , considering ) , it just became a generic instalment we ’ve seen plenty of clock time before , and not even a good one : Showdown at the Buy More with Chuck having to overcome his natural cowardice ? Check ! speculative guy cable being dismissive of Chuck ’s bluster but still not just killing him ? Check ! Buy More subplot that shows the storehouse having a completely unbelievable subculture for the saki of funniness ? Check , and seriously , Fight Club ? Did I by chance flow back a decade or something ?
It did n’t assist that the plot was moderately dissipate , even by Chuck standard : The Ring mistake Awesome for Chuck after last week ’s escapades , and determine to sample and convert him , which apparently consists of telling him to kill the CIA ’s head of anti - Ring operations … who happen to not only screw about all their architectural plan , but manages to convert the Ring ’s sexy ( She gets a walk in to the Buy More in dull motion ; that ’s how you know someone is sexy in Chuck ) factor that he ’s dead by swallow a pill and shooting himself in the shoulder . ANYway , once the Ring believe that Awesome is a spy , Chuck decide that he ’s always been against allow his family to get involved with the spygame ( Despite stand Awesome ’s plan to bring through Casey last week , because … last week was last week ? ) , chop a special Ring phone , calls them up and says " Oh , hi , I ’m the undercover agent , " at which case they believe him – and , for some reason , leave Devon alone from that point onwards – have a encounter in the Buy More and then everyone take together for dinner party and laughter . expect , what ? So , evil undercover agent organization think random phone calls , do n’t keep lozenge on new convert after their first mission ( severely , no - onewas follow Awesome while they went to tally out Chuck ? ) , are so eager to trust that they do n’t check to see whether that dead guy is walking around town soon afterwards … Well , maybe it ’s expert if I do n’t think about it too much . It was n’t all bad ; despite not having much to function with , Brandon Routh ’s anti - Ring expert Shaw was agreeably spy - assholish , and Awesome ’s account of where he ’d been to Ellie was a thing of curiosity ( " Yeah , I had to decapitate the bear " ) . But , after the impregnable opening move of the season in last week ’s three instalment , this seemed like a drop in quality . Here ’s hoping next hebdomad ’s episode is in force … even if Kristin Kreuk ’s involvement may bringSmallvilleflashbacks .
