Beer glorious beer ! It ’s Oktoberfest time . And to lionize , Gizmodo photographers took one for the team , cracked a few beers , and got to work . Here are the resolution of this calendar week ’s beer Shooting Challenge .
WINNER : griffon
Shot in my local Pub , Griffins of Kinsale , South Pasadena .. a chilled Guinness on a spicy Clarence Shepard Day Jr. , shot with a Leica M8 , Voigtlander Nokton Classic 40 millimeter at F1.4 , 1/30 second . The Pub is unexampled , but the legal profession is old , ravish from back east to merry previous California . I want as much bokeh , to pop out the guinness away from the screen background , but still wait lively . By the way .. the ale was full to the last drop .

Hero Shot
I photograph this picture at the death of a long day of piece of work today at our restaurant in Brooklyn . There is something about an ice - insensate beer in a frosted mug at the ending of a long day that is so heavenly , and I really care this shot because it looks as if light is exhale from the beer itself , which is often how I see it . I took the shot on a Nikon D3000 with a received kit lens with an ISO of 200 .

Beachtoberfest
Oktoberfest at the Beach Well , the last twenty-four hour period of summer was Saturday September 21st so I headed to the beach . I figured I ’d take some beer to photograph for the contest . When I check the fridge , lo & behold , an Oktoberfest beer . It was mean to be . So there was n’t much Oktoberfesting at Hollywood Beach , FL where the pic was taken , just the beer , sand , sun & surf . Canon T1i Canon 50 millimetre f/1.4 Lens f/4 1/3200 ISO-100 50 mm

Glamor Shot
I need to do a glamor / mathematical product guess of the beer . I had a vision in my school principal of illuminated traffic circle . I thought about cutting holes in poster display board or froth board , but then I remembered our goofy ikea chair that has a back full of circular mess . I setup froth circuit board on the seat , shoot a fanfare through a diffusor in the back , and had a 2d speedlite photographic camera right wing with an umbrella for a beef . Shot came out very glam … and tasty ! Canon 5D Mk III 50 mm 1.8 2 speedlites Belhaven Scottish Ale

Not a Fan
So for the last twelvemonth or so we ’ve been light and taking photos for easydrinkmixer.com , so I cipher I ’d discombobulate this amazing beer on the setup . Through the battalion of cocktails we ’ve shot I ’ve discover one matter . I ’m not a fan of beer . Yes , yes I have it off . disgrace . Wine and cocktails – yes , beer not so much . So I was super surprised when my beer connoisseur of a housemate brought this home and hated it enough to give it to me before he threw it off . Well , peculiarly enough I loved this Petrus Aged Red . It has a grand aftertaste of contraband cherry , and the flavor fetch even more prominent as the beer warm up . queer , but delightful ! So about the picture ? We ’ve find off television camera flashes bounce to the rightfulness and the leftfield of the beer ( you’re able to see this in the glass ) and one under the glass to light up the beer . Yes , it is that violent . Beautiful ! Thanks for the competition ! Peace & Happy drunkenness , -Whil PS yes , you ca n’t see the whole label , but I liked the light from the beer on the label … perhaps I should not have drank this before my editing ! Straight From the tankful
I am fortunate enough to have a admirer who is a beer maker for a very popular local Austin brewery . I met up with him at the brewery to get up , pledge a few dry pint , and take some exposure . He call for if we wanted to try on their latest creation to be released for their approaching day of remembrance and we happily obligate . With just a little more aging to do , he pullulate straight from the tank and while I hold back for my chalk to be filled I snapped a few more photos ; this is one of them . I go for you savor it * almost * as much as you enjoy your beer . sunshine !

Zugspitze !
With a lot of booster , we were mount Zugspitze , the highest peak in Germany , I also wanted to chitchat the Octoberfest but did n’t bring off to make free time for it , so I thought we could make our own beer fest on the direction to the top and my friends did not have anything against either . On the pic is the 2d 1 litter ‘ Weizenbier ’ I ’ve got so I conceive it is time to make the shot because if latter , it might come up too fuzz . Somehow the shot did n’t come too good(actually they were very spoilt ) until I used the innate lighting . camera : Sony NEX-6 , Standard lens 16 mm , ISO 100 , f/13 .

Brave
After learning the challenge was to photograph beers , I bravely spent my whole weekend adventuring into several bar and breweries , strike pictures of beers and fuddle quite a few of them . tight to the final stage of my sacrifice , my acquaintance tell me he was brew his own beer at plate . I asked to take some motion-picture show of it . At first , he was n’t so sharp because apparently the beer demand another week to be ready , and thus , is still cloudy and raw sienna colored . Personally , I think it is everlasting ( both in look and taste ) . Camera Canon EOS 60D Exposure 0.017 sec ( 1/60 ) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 50 mm ISO Speed 320

Sudset
Nikon D600 Lens 24 - 85 mm shaft at : 42 mm F/ 3.3 ISO 400 When I see this photo contention I had a couple ideas arrive to mind now . Though I did n’t get the precise snap I was after , I decidedly did learn a couple matter about shooting beer . For example , cold beer is light to keep foamy , but warm beer is easier to shoot when doing so outside because obviously it does n’t fog up the crank and make the shot look out of focal point . I also learned that my beau greatly enjoy this photo competition and having an excuse to salute a couple beer , you ca n’t just blow it after all ! I chose to use Red Stripe beer because I thought – what better way to represent Jamaica where this shot was taken ? ?
